A gift for my beloved one
Mapping an exciting experience as a customer
Some believe in fate while some think it to be simple superstition. I personally am a believer and this week made me believe it more. My beloved one had her birthday coming and while I was figuring out what to surprise her with, I got assigned with this Service mapping project. It was coincidental for sure but fate is what brought it together.
A journey map captures iconic experiences that customers have, from their point of view: the front stage of the service experience. In creating a journey map, you use customer narratives and customer data to plot their experience over time, mapping what they are doing, thinking, and feeling, and what they are interacting with along the way.
I want to share a journey map of service that I planned to surprise my Beloved One with, on her 25th birthday.
Step1 : Selecting picture for print.
Touchpoints: sketchbook, utensil box, desk, mobile, camera application, switch board, computer, USB cord, Adobe Illustrator.
While I was composing I was thinking about “25 being a turning point where a person needs to be enlightened about the life where work and family both deserve equal priorities. That is why I chose Buddha.
Adobe Illustrator made my work easy as it provides auto tracing feature. I simply auto traced the clicked picture and subtracted some elements.
I experimented with some colors, foreground, and background for making my composition, expressing the essence of enlightenment.

Step2 : Placing order for product.
Touchpoints: Gmail, mobile, whatsapp, phone call.
Placing the order was too easy. I just had to mail him all the details .
As I had to get the work done in 24 hours, and no black tees were available, I confirmed to get it done in a white T-shirt.
EMOTIONS:😊
Step3 : Receiving and paying for the product.
Touchpoints: Cycle key, cycle, Gate of shopkeeper’s house, door bell, shopkeeper, printed T-shirt, carry bag, cash.
Since the shopkeeper has the printing machine in his house itself, I went cycling to his house.
The first step shopkeeper took for the printing process was to print my composition on an A4 sheet.
I observed the whole printing process in front of my eyes.
The product turned out to be pretty good. I was surely satisfied with it.
I received the product from the shopkeeper.
I paid the shopkeeper via cash.
EMOTIONS:😊
Step4 : Gift wrapping the product.
Touchpoints: art paper, scissor, pencil, glue, posca pen, T-shirt.
Since I didn’t have any gift wrapper with me, I made a DIY gift wrapper by using black art paper and made an envelope. To add details I designed it with posca pens.
EMOTIONS: 😒
Step 5 : Delivering the product to my beloved one.
TOUCHPOINTS: scooty key, garage key, front door, garage door, scooty, beloved one, gift package.
I grabbed my scooty and garage keys.
I opened the garage for the scooty.
I started the Scooty and headed to present the gift to my beloved one.
I was pretty tensed about how she was going to react.
It turned out to be great and she sure was surprised.
She was reviewing about my gift and told me that she really liked it.
And Voila! The smile that I wanted to see on her face was very important as that is the ultimate thing that I wanted to gift her with, and also that smile helped me to successfully complete my project within a very limited time.
EMOTIONS:😊💕
Comments and Reviews :
The whole process of gifting your beloved one is very intimidating as the person holds a very special place in your heart for which you wish to present something that elevates the mood of the environment.
My experience with the Gift Store is very lucid as the shopkeeper has a humble and friendly nature.
Some hurdles were there in the whole process but I overcame the obstacles and ultimately the process became more exciting and exuberant.
In the end, all three Persons who were connected with the process were contently satisfied.
